Andrew Hamilton FCA CTA Cert PFS Cert CII (MP)
Andrew held a short service commission with the Black Watch before joining Binder Hamlyn in the City of London where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1974. Andrew then worked for Coopers and Lybrand for six years during which time he qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor.Andrew left Coopers and Lybrand in 1983 to start Andrew Hamilton & Co. His aim then was to provide a professional tax and accounting service at a reasonable cost. Over 20 years later and with a team of 20, the aim is still the same. He is extremely reluctant to allow the firm to grow any larger preferring instead to retain the integrity and ethos of the smaller firm.
He is a director of the firm's sister company, Hamilton Financial, a company specialising in the provision of independent financial advice. His outside interests include politics, golf and countryside matters.
Sarah Wilson CA CTA Cert PFS Cert CII (MP)
Following her degree in Accountancy and Finance at Heriot Watt University, Sarah completed her CA training at a small Edinburgh firm.Having decided to concentrate on taxation, she took her Institute of Tax exams and then went on to head up the Tax Department of Kidson Impey in Edinburgh.
After a number of years Sarah wanted to return to the smaller firm environment and joined Andrew Hamilton and Co in 1996 becoming a partner in 1998. Sarah has recently qualified as a member of the Personal Finance Society and she is a director of the firm's sister company, Hamilton Financial, a company specialising in the provision of independent financial services.
This year Sarah has decided to embark on something different and has started learning British Sign Language and has been working with the Deaf Children's Society for East Scotland. Unfortunately her BSL is still at the level of a five-year-old but it is coming on.
